João Barros is Full Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Porto and Director of the Instituto de Telecomunicações in Porto.

Recognized for his contributions to physical layer security and vehicular networks, he founded the startups Streambolico and Veniam, the latter acquired by Nexar in 2022.
